Torch Theatre was a challenging and very interesting site to develop. The clients' wanted everything that a theatre would usually require: an events based calendar, quick access to 'what's on...' etc., a facility for bulk emailing of film programs and live shows to visitors who register, a search system to help visitors find what they are looking for, the ability for visitors to send in a booking request to the Box Office, a downloads page for press releases, brochures and general information PDF's, areas of the site publicising other facilities such as the Gallery and Cafe etc.
A visitor tracking system is in place to see how visitors browse the site and where they came from etc. This is an invaluable feature for marketing the site further as it helps give insight into many aspects of visitors browsing habits.
This site, then, is quite complex with many areas of operation all driven by a Content Managed System from which the sites admins can add new events (film/live shows etc.) and create newsletters etc. without the need to contact the developer (me in this case!) in order to do these things. This, of course, makes the administration of the site a much more immediate and efficient process.
Design and layout is kept clean and easy to use. Most, if not all, of the sites we develop are kept deliberately clean and clutter free without unnecessary distractions for the visitor. This is important when considering that visitors want to find information quickly, especially from a site containing so much to look at.

Optimise: To develop websites keeping the importance of search engines in mind: Structure the site correctly, Code the site correctly using the appropriate modern coding methods to help Google and other search engines to find your site and to add it to their databases. The aim, of course, is to assist your customers & clients to find your site!
CMS: Content Managed (Management) System: A site which has been built in which the sites' contents can be managed by you. You login with a username & password after which you can change almost anything.
PPC: Pay-Per-Click. A method of paying (Yahoo, Google etc.) everytime your visitors click on your link/advert. An excellent way to get onto Google within hours of going live.
