Clothing for work represents an excellent way to sell products online. The prerequisites were: a site which is east to navigate and clearly shows what the site sells; make it easy for people to buy.
With that in mind the site was developed using, in my opinion, the best shopping cart software available. It was important that this software was flexible enough to be able to set up different pricing scales, customer discounts, multiple product attributes etc. while at the same time was able to be completely customised in terms of its styling. Some shopping carts are limited in what can be done about the way they look.
We've provided this client with a bespoke design/layout. The styling, again, is very clean and clutter free. This site is here to help people buy products online and so minimising any redundant items is of course a benefit. Remember; make it easy for people to buy. This makes sense and if you've ever bought online you'll know that it's a welcome discovery that your purchase was straightforward to complete!
The site uses several categories for each type of clothing and within each category displays all the products available to the visitor. It was important to show the visitor as much information about the garment as possible because it's not like browsing a shop where the items can be touched and tried on etc. The site owners hold no stock at all and use dropshipping methods to server their customers.
The site owner needed an Internet Merchant Account in order to take payments online and link to his bank account. This is a simple process which we handled for him. We also populated the site with all the products which the client needed.
Useful terms:
Optimise: To develop websites keeping the importance of search engines in mind: Structure the site correctly, Code the site correctly using the appropriate modern coding methods to help Google and other search engines to find your site and to add it to their databases. The aim, of course, is to assist your customers & clients to find your site!
CMS: Content Managed (Management) System: A site which has been built in which the sites' contents can be managed by you. You login with a username & password after which you can change almost anything.
PPC: Pay-Per-Click. A method of paying (Yahoo, Google etc.) everytime your visitors click on your link/advert. An excellent way to get onto Google within hours of going live.
